Considerations for Warehousing and Material Storage Areas

Thin-Mil

This is the easiest area to overlook in the specification and design of a floor, but almost as important as the rest of the facility. The proper system will enable smoother transit of vehicles and materials (increased efficiency), reduce dusting (keeping materials cleaner), reduce degradation of the floor (improving life cycle/reducing potential down time for repair and helping to save adjacent flooring from staining), increase aesthetics, and can reduce the need for expensive lighting through higher reflectivity.

  • Transitions from the area to travel paths and walkways
  • What types of materials will be stored or transferred through the area?
  • Does the system need to meet regulatory guidelines?
